Strategy
Biotechonomy is a life science venture capital firm that provides
equity financing and management assistance to start-up and early
stage, entrepreneurial companies. We focus on companies that are
leaders in their domain, are in undervalued sectors, or are strategically
positioned to take advantage of near-term trends and industry sea-changes.
These include companies engaged in genomics-based energy, industrial
and agricultural opportunities; companies with technologies that
accelerate drug discovery and development; and businesses capable
of improving the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Our Team
In addition to Juan Enriquez, Caleb M. Winder
is also a principal at Biotechonomy. He serves on the board
of Xcellerex, Inc.
Caleb
M. Winder spent his early career as an award-winning sales and
marketing professional for companies that specialized in medical
equipment, diagnostics systems and software. They include Midmark
Corporation, the world leader in Medical Exam table manufacturing,
Medical Graphics Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of
innovative cardio-respiratory systems, and Moldflow Corporation,
a developer of predictive computer-aided engineering software and
process monitoring software for injection-molded plastic parts.
Prior to business school, he was in Business Development for GeneXP
Biosciences, where he set up a 'greenfield' biotech manufacturing
plant, developed investor presentations and coordinated the company's
third round of equity financing.
During the summer of 2003, Mr. Winder was recruited by Seed Partners,
an angel-stage investment fund, to provide due diligence and consulting
to several startups.
Mr. Winder received his MBA from Babson College, magna cum laude,
where he was a Babson Fellow, Director of the Entrepreneurial Finance
